Funding Available for Coalitions To Assist Identity Theft Victims: The Office for Victims of Crime is pleased to announce the launch of a National Identity Theft Victims' Network cooperative agreement with the Maryland Crime Victims' Resource Center, Inc., (MCVRC) to facilitate up to nine sub-awards of up to $50,000 each to create or support regional, statewide or community-based coalitions to assist victims of identity theft. This national scope project is designed to encourage the expansion of victim service programs via victim assistance coalitions to improve their responses to victims of identity theft. MCVRC will provide support and guidance to the sub-recipient coalitions—working to create or improve their service delivery portfolio at the local, state, and regional level to better address the needs of victims of identity theft and to provide them with appropriate assistance. Applications must be submitted by June 15, 2011, through MCVRC. Applicants are encouraged to begin the application process well in advance of the June 15th deadline. Those interested in applying can read the full solicitation for its requirements and eligibility criteria on the MCVRC Web site. The Department of Defense has just launched the DoD Safe Helpline to provide support to victims and survivors of sexual assault within the DoD community. The Department has partnered with RAINN to ensure that survivors can access help and support 24/7/365. Please visit the new website at www.safehelpline.org/

Quality Victim Advocacy: A Field Guide explores the needs of crime victims and how to create victim-centered services. The author, my good friend and outstanding victim advocate David L. Voth, has been a victim service provider for 25 years at a program serving victims of domestic violence, sexual assault, violence, homicide, and property crimes. The book focuses on output and outcome measures, logic models, and how to integrate them to improve services. It is available at amazon.com and barnesandnoble.com and other booksellers. You will value and appreciate this wonderful book! The U.S. Senate passed Resolution S. 391, commemorating the 25th anniversary.
